International Schools in Moscow

In a setting like Moscow, international schools serve as educational excellence and cultural diversity. These schools cater to a diverse community of expatriate families, diplomatic personnel, and local students seeking a globally-focused education.

International schools in Moscow have become renowned for providing a rich and inclusive learning environment. By offering a wide range of internationally recognized curricula, state-of-the-art facilities, and a plethora of extracurricular activities, these institutions ensure that students receive a holistic education that prepares them for success in an interconnected world.

Here are six things parents should take into account when choosing a school for their child:
  1. Academic Excellence - looking at the result of standardised tests like IB or A-Level is a good indicator of what the school offers the children. (If schools do not post this information or share it with you when asked this could indicate a red flag!)
  2. Curriculum - understanding what curriculum the school offers is critical. If you are planning to move to a different country make sure that you pick a curriculum that is also available there. It is also important to discuss within the family and with an academic advisor what curriculum the child is better suited for.
  3. Class Sizes - some children learn better in small classes where as others learn better in bigger classes. When visiting the school ask about their average class size!
  4. Extracurricular Activities - consider what activities your child might want to participate in, if it is a small school ask if they take part in activities in the neighbourhood.
  5. Facilities - does the school have a sports centre? a swimming pool? a theatre? Are there chemistry and biology labs?
  6. Location - how would your child get to school? How long would it take? Does the school offer a bus service? Especially in big cities, where there is a lot of traffic the parents need to consider how long it would take for the child to get home. If your child attends after school activities would they still have time to do homework?

Given the current situation, it is important to consider your child’s future before applying to a certain school. Understanding the sanctions that are or could be imposed on education is critical when making a choice. We would strongly recommend choosing a school that is well connected with other schools around the world. This way they can easily refer you further and minimise the stress.

Here are some schools we suggest:
International School of Moscow (ISM) - IGCSE and A-Level
Letovo School - IB
President School - IB
Russian International School (RIS) - IGCSE and A-Level
